Requirements for participation in the course of study

The following can apply for participation in the course

  •     high school graduates who want to start their studies in the winter semester 2022/2023. The average of your high school diploma/ A-levels should be 1.5 or better.
  •     Persons who have just started studying law can also apply.

Study achievements that were completed before the start of the English-German Bachelor's programme can be credited under certain conditions.

Admission procedure - previous knowledge

Participants must be excellent in English and German language and have to be suitable for the binational study of law.


Both are determined in an admission procedure at the University of Cologne.
The admission procedure consists of

  •     a written application,
  •     a written test. 
  •     if you obtain a good result in the written test, we wll invite you to an interview


The written test includes translations, a listening comprehension assignment and the writing of an essay on a current social or political topic.
It takes about two hours. Further details are regulated by the admission regulations.
